You can tell your mom I moved to Arkansas; you can tell your dog to bite my leg. ~ Billy Ray Cyrus

Arkansas is a state in the South Central region of the United States, home to more than three million people as of 2018. Its name is from the Osage language, a Dhegiha Siouan language, and referred to their relatives, the Quapaw people. The state's diverse geography ranges from the mountainous regions of the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains, which make up the U.S. Interior Highlands, to the densely forested land in the south known as the Arkansas Timberlands, to the eastern lowlands along the Mississippi River and the Arkansas Delta. Its capital and largest city is Little Rock.

Arkansas was originally controlled by the French Colonial Empire, and was added to the United States by the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. It was admitted the Union as a slave state in 1836. It joined the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War.

Its state government is currently controlled by the Republican Party, and its current governor is Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Quotes[edit]

  • You can tell your mom I moved to Arkansas; you can tell your dog to bite my leg. Or tell your brother Cliff, whose fist can tell my lip. He never really liked me anyway.
